Engineer.
Problem Solver.

Conservative Republican for State Representative • HD-97

Mark Piotrowski

Meet Mark Piotrowski

Mark Piotrowski spent nearly 40 years as a manufacturing engineer in Michigan’s auto industry, solving real-world problems and keeping production running at Saginaw Steering Gear, Delphi, and Nexteer Automotive.

He earned his engineering degree from Marquette University and later completed his MBA at the University of Michigan–Flint. In 2022, voters elected Mark as 1st District Saginaw County Commissioner, where he has focused on protecting taxpayers and restoring accountability in local government.

Mark and his wife Deb have been married for 36 years and raised their family in Mid-Michigan. After four decades delivering results in the real world, he’s running to bring practical, problem-solving leadership to Lansing.

Conservative Principles

Protecting taxpayers, strengthening Michigan’s workforce, and restoring common-sense leadership.

Michigan’s Property Taxes Are Too High

Michigan's Average Annual Property Tax Bill

$2,795 - $3,264

  • New homeowners can see taxes jump 50% or more overnight

  • Rising property taxes are making homeownership harder to afford

Protecting Taxpayers and Lowering Property Taxes

As Saginaw County Commissioner, Mark has consistently opposed tax increases and fought to protect taxpayers. In Mid-Michigan, homeowners are paying effective property tax rates higher than Ohio and far higher than Indiana — putting real pressure on families, seniors on fixed incomes, and working people trying to build and keep a life here.

After nearly 40 years in Michigan manufacturing, Mark understands what it means to live within a budget. He believes government should be held to the same standard.

Mark will work to lower the property tax burden, oppose unnecessary tax increases, and bring responsible, common-sense leadership to Lansing.

Reviving Michigan's Skilled Workforce

Education Spending Per Student

$16,208

Michigan:

Mississippi:

$12,394

  • Michigan spends nearly $4,000 more per student than Mississippi

  • Mississippi rose from 49th in 4th grade reading to the Top 10

  • Mississippi now ranks Top 5 in 8th grade reading nationwide

  • Michigan remains in the bottom half despite higher spending

Strengthening Michigan’s Workforce & Skilled Trades

Mark built his career as a Problem Solver, working alongside skilled tradesmen and technicians who kept production running and businesses competitive. He understands Michigan’s future depends on giving students strong reading skills and practical training that lead to real careers.

Michigan is spending more. Our kids aren’t learning more.

We spend more per student than many states, yet our reading scores rank in the bottom 10 nationally for 4th grade and in the bottom half for 8th grade. Our kids are falling behind.

The problem isn’t funding — it’s focus. Schools should teach reading, math, and real job skills, not political agendas.

In Lansing, Mark will strengthen workforce training and skilled trades programs and restore focus on measurable results.

Reliable, Affordable Energy for Families and Farms

Michigan’s Electricity Performance

Second-highest energy rates in the Midwest
One of the worst power reliability records in the nation

  • Michigan households pay higher electricity rates than neighboring states but experience longer outages and worse reliability.

Reliable, Affordable Energy for Families and Farms

When energy costs go up, families pay. When the power goes out, businesses close. Energy policy isn’t abstract theory. It’s a real problem that hits your wallet. Michigan needs reliable power people can afford.

Farmers already face enough uncertainty from weather, fuel, and supply costs. Unreliable or expensive energy only adds to the pressure, making it harder to stay competitive and preserve Michigan’s agricultural heritage.

In Lansing, Mark will support practical energy policies that protect ratepayers, strengthen grid reliability, and preserve local control — ensuring Michigan remains a place where families, businesses, and farms can thrive for generations.
